I have extensive experience working with children and teens and their families and while I’m not currently working with children, supporting parents and those seeking parenthood is a particular interest of mine. This can include infertility struggles and challenges with adoption, pregnancy and parenting. It may also include perinatal anxiety and depression, issues related to navigating the transition to parenthood, and the identity and life changes that parenthood brings. I have my own young children at home, as well as a blended family, which has given me personal insight into the challenges of becoming and being a parent.
I also have significant experience in working with trauma, to include grief and loss, childhood abuse, traumatic separation, illness, and attachment and adoption issues. I incorporate mindfulness and the expressive arts when it is supportive to clients, which can include art and journaling. My therapeutic style is holistic and guided by the belief that people's life experiences inform how they engage with the world and in their relationships. Therapy is therefore a dual process of gaining insight into how past experiences impact current struggles, as well as learning how to develop the tools that are needed for healing in the current moment.
