Get to Know Me

I graduated from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco with a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Expressive Arts Therapy.  I hold a Marriage and Family Therapist license in California (#78000), a Licensed Professional Counselor license in Washington, D.C. (#14251) and Virginia (#0701006834), and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor license in Maryland (#10083) .  I received a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts from Sarah Lawrence College in New York.  I am also a registered play therapist/supervisor and a graduate of the two-year post-graduate Child and Adolescent program at the Washington School of Psychiatry.

I have significant training in working with complex trauma, to include interpersonal loss and abuse, childhood abuse, traumatic separation, illness, and attachment and adoption issues.  I incorporate the expressive arts when it is supportive to clients, which can include art, sand tray and play therapy.  My therapeutic style is holistic and guided by the belief that people's life experiences inform how they engage with the world and in their relationships.  Therapy is therefore a dual process of gaining insight into how past experiences impact current struggles, as well as learning how to develop the tools that are needed for healing.

I am a lifelong traveler and bring an understanding of the multiple factors that can lead people to the Washington, D.C. area, as well as an appreciation for other cultures and life views.  I am committed to my own healing and growth and feel honored to help others as they navigate their life journeys.
